Hold Us Tight in a World of Trouble

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” (Philippians 1:6)

“May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 5:23)

During World War II, Corrie ten Boom and her family of ten lived out their Christian faith by making their home a refuge–a hiding place–for Jews and members of the Dutch underground who were being hunted by the Nazis.

Found in Reflections of God’s Glory, Corrie wrote decades ago “What a world we live in! I find the news broadcasts so terrible that reading the newspapers and listening to the news can make me despondent and sometimes almost desperate. We cannot see the final outcome, and often we become frightened as to where all this bad news will lead. If we read the news reports we say…the worst is yet to come. If we read the bible, we can cry out...the best is still to come!”  We know Jesus promises us He is coming. He wants us to prepare for His return.

Corrie’s observations of our world still ring true. Shall we pray Corrie’s prayer today? Please join me…

“Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You want to prepare us for Your return.  Thank You that You have so clearly shown us the blueprint for world events in Your Word and that we know that if we, the branches, are connected to the vine, that in these difficult times we can produce fruits of peace, love, and comfort.  Hold us tight. Amen.”

Do you have any other scripture, prayers, or thoughts to share?  Please reply.  We’d love to hear from you!

Joyfully In Christ,

Pam
